Tuition fees at Nantes Université

As a student at Nantes Université, you will need to pay two types of fees: the university tuition fees, and the CVEC (contribution to student and campus life).

Differentiated fees: what are they?

Since 2019, non-European international students have in principle been required to pay higher registration fees than French and European students. These are known as differentiated fees. Until now, universities had considerable freedom in their exemption policies.

A new decree, published on 19 May 2026, changes this. It strictly limits and regulates the possibilities for exemption from the 2026-2027 academic year onwards. In practical terms, a greater number of international students will now be required to pay these differentiated fees. The tuition fee amount (national fees or differentiated fees) depends on your individual circumstances. See our FAQ to find out which rate applies to your situation.

A few Master's degrees, such as Erasmus Mundus and Polytech's International Master, apply specific tuitions fees (see table for details).

Nantes Université maintains the same rigorous academic standards and excellent teaching quality regardless of tuition costs. Our professors are renowned researchers and experts in their fields, our facilities are state-of-the-art, and our programs are internationally recognised.

CVEC - Student Life Contribution

The "Contribution à la Vie Étudiante et de Campus" (CVEC) is a €105 compulsory annual contribution that supports student life and campus services, including sports facilities, cultural activities, and student support services.

Important: You only pay CVEC once per academic year. You must obtain your proof of payment or exemption before completing your administrative registration.

Some students may be exempted, please refer to the official CVEC page for the latest information.
