Book a health appointment
What is the Student Health Centre?
The Student Health Centre offers consultations in general medicine and specialist care. It works alongside local doctors and nearby hospitals. It is not meant to replace them.
- If you already have a GP (general practitioner or doctor) near Nantes, you should make an appointment with them directly for your medical needs.
- If you do not have a GP, you can register the Student Health Centre as your GP. This is important in France, as having a registered GP helps you get your healthcare costs reimbursed.
The Centre automatically applies tiers payant AMO: this means that, provided you bring your Carte Vitale (health insurance card), you do not pay upfront for the doctor's fee: the French national health insurance (Sécurité Sociale) covers it directly.
How to book an appointment?
- Step 1: Connect to this page and create your patient account online, using your mobile phone number and your student email address.
- Step 2: Choose a location: Nantes Michelet, Nantes École d'Architecture, La Fleuriaye, La Roche-sur-Yon, or Saint-Nazaire.
- Step 3: Choose the type of healthcare professional you need (see the list below).
- Step 4: Choose the reason for your appointment (from the options available).
- Step 5: Optionally, choose a specific practitioner or select "no preference."
- Step 6: Pick a date and time that suits you.
- Step 7: Add a brief note in the "Notes" field explaining why you are making the appointment. This is required for doctor's appointments.
Please bring your health/vaccination record booklet (or equivalent document from your home country) to your Preventive Health Check appointment

New to the French health system?
In France, you need to be registered with the national health insurance (Sécurité Sociale) and ideally have a registered GP (médecin traitant) to get your medical costs reimbursed. The Student Health Centre can help with both.
Bring your Carte Vitale (health insurance card) or your proof of social security registration to every appointment.
