The French-Polish "Marie Sklodowska and Pierre Curie" prize of the French Academy of Sciences and the Polish Science Foundation (FNP) has been awarded to Denis Jacquemin, researcher at the Chemistry and Interdisciplinarity, Synthesis, Analysis, Modeling laboratory (CEISAM) and Daniel Gryko (Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences) for their work on organic synthesis and quantum dye chemistry.
Their collaboration, based on complementary expertise covering organic synthesis and quantum chemistry, has enabled them to gain access to dyes with high fluorescence performance. The studies they have carried out have enabled them not only to make significant advances in the field of luminescent materials, but also to discover new systems and predict their photophysical properties before they are synthesized. The potential applications of these new dyes are numerous, and can range from low-bandgap co-polymers, to organic transistors, solar cells, near-infrared light-emitting diodes and more. The next step is to achieve 20% effective emission in the near infrared.
Denis JACQUEMIN is Professor at the Chemistry and Interdisciplinarity, Synthesis, Analysis, Modeling Laboratory (CEISAM) and a senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF). His research focuses on theoretical chemistry, quantum chemistry and theoretical spectroscopy.
