Denis Jacquemin (CEISAM lab) and Christophe Sotin (LPG lab) were honored on Tuesday, October 15, under the dome of the Academy of Sciences in Paris, for their research work. Congratulations!

Denis Jacquemin - Franco-Polish Prize "Marie Sklodowska Curie and Pierre Curie"

Awarded by the French Academy of Sciences and the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP), the Franco-Polish "Marie Sklodowska Curie and Pierre Curie" Prize highlights the excellence of Franco-Polish scientific cooperation. It rewards a pair of researchers for their scientific contributions as well as their future projects. This year, this prize was awarded to the pair composed of Denis Jacquemin and Daniel Gryko (Institute of Organic Chemistry Polish Academy of Sciences) for their work on organic synthesis and quantum chemistry of dyes.

Holder of a PhD in chemistry from the University of Namur (1998), Denis Jacquemin is currently a professor at the CEISAM lab and a senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF). His research focuses on the modeling of excited electronic states of organic dyes and photochromes using a wide range of quantum mechanical approaches. Professor Jacquemin's team collaborates with many experimental groups. He is the author of more than 650 scientific articles and is senior editor of The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters (ACS).

Christophe Sotin - "CNES - Astrophysics and Space Sciences" Prize

Christophe Sotin is a professor at Nantes Université and a researcher at the Laboratoire de Planétologie et Géosciences (LPG) - which he founded - where he is currently studying the geological evolution of planets and satellites in the solar system and is interested in that of extrasolar planets. His work has covered the observational aspects, laboratory experiments, and numerical modeling necessary for understanding the physicochemical processes that govern the evolution of planets and moons (Earth, Venus, Mars, Titan, etc.). His expertise allowed him to join NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) from 2007 to 2020. Back in Nantes in 2021, Christophe Sotin received a prestigious European Commission (ERC) grant to study the carbon cycle and the evolution of organic molecules in the outer solar system and beyond (PROMISES project).
